Top 6-9 Maggie Smith caps from Death on the Nile (and as requested by aindamais)
Thanks, slippingandsliding, you made my morning >:D<
Top things I love about this film, in no particular order:
1. Maggie & her almost gender-bending wardrobe :)) Particularly loving the scenes in which she’s wearing a tuxedo & her impeccable Marcel wave. I’m still trying to figure out how to add a tie/bowtie to my everyday wardrobe.
2. Maggie’s interaction with Bette & the great lines they have together (the one about heat & heathens comes to mind lol)
3. Angela.Lansbury. Bordering on caricature, crazy without being crazy, her Salome Otterbourne had me in stitches. I still laugh when I remember the famous tango scene :)))
5. David Niven and his understated elegance. I wish he and Maggie had worked together more.
4. Agatha Christie’s ability to take you “there” and keep you interested. Still one of my favourite authors of crime novels. I’ll never forget that summer holiday, many years ago, when I read 15 or 16 of her books back to back. Those were the days… :)
5. Egypt, the Nile, the pyramids & cruises.
6. Peter Ustinov and his Poirot, “un mélange étrange” of sharp intellect & bonhomie. David Suchet may be the definitive Poirot in my universe, but nobody can deny that Ustinov is great in this one. Hated Finney’s Poirot, though.
7. The lavish production values
8. Last but not least, the poster, designed by Richard Amsel.
